Fremont, CA – February 7, 2008 – Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) USA is introducing its first external BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc Reader) drive to the market. The Lite-On DX-4O1S allows users to take their BD-ROM everywhere they go to playback high-definition content on different PCs via an USB 2.0 connection. “The drive’s USB interface is a great feature where consumers can easily use a standard USB cable to connect to virtually any PC* in the world,” says Christine Hsing, Marketing Manager at PLDS. “The new Lite-On external BD-ROM gives them a convenient way to enjoy Blu-ray disc, DVD, and CD playback on different PCs*.” Ms. Hsing added. The DX-4O1S BD-ROM retail pack comes with the latest Cyberlink Power DVD software for playback of Blu-ray disc media, DVD, or CD multi-media content. The Lite-On DX-4O1S external BD-ROM can also be used as a universal playback device. It can read virtually every format available including BD-R/RE/ROM, Single-layer or Double-layer media at 4X maximum. Single Layer DVD ±R or DVD-ROM can be read at 12X max, while Double Layer DVD±R and Single Layer DVD±RW can be read at 8X max. CD-R/RW/ROM has a maximum read speed of 32X. The DX-4O1S Blu-ray BD-ROM drive will be available at retail outlets in March with an affordable suggested list price of $299.99.
*Every PC must meet the minimum system requirements for BD content playback. About PLDS
