American Photo Magazine gives Lite-On’s LH-2B1S Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer Editor’s Choice Award” for 2007

Fremont, CA. – July 2, 2007 – Lite-On, the world’s leading supplier of optical storage solutions for PCs and home entertainment systems, received another prestigious Editor’s Choice Award from American Photo magazine (July/August 2007 issue) for its LH-2B1S 2X Blu-ray disc triple writer.  American Photo Magazine is the "bible" of the photographic world in the United States, covering the art and the swiftly-changing technology of photography for an audience of advanced photography enthusiasts and photo professionals.

“This internal disc burner is currently the most affordable cross-platform model capable of reading and writing Blu-ray optical discs”, said the American Photo Magazine Editors. “It can also burn DVD and CD media, but Blu-ray discs hold many times more data than those formats.”

The LH-2B1S 2X Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer can store up to 25GB of data on a single-layer BD disc, equivalent to 2.5 hours High-Definition (HD) video or 12 hours of standard definition content on a single disc. It is capable of recording and playing back today’s most popular media formats including Blu-ray, DVD, and CD.  The drive features a 2X read and write speed on BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE media, and supports DVD±R media at 12X.  LH-2B1S writes DVD±R DL (Double Layer) media at 4X, rewrites DVD+RW media at 8X, DVD-RW media at 6X, and reads DVD-ROM media at 12X.   The LH-2B1S also features Lite-On patented cutting edge technologies SMART-BURN for optimizing the quality of each burn with a minimum risk of failed burns, or creating “coasters”, and SMART-X for setting the optimum speed of operation.

The LH-2B1S 2X Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer incorporates Serial ATA interface which provides higher performance than previously possible with the Parallel ATA Interface.  Serial ATA connection eliminates potential information and performance “bottlenecking” by currently offering a 150 MB/s information transfer rate and will provide significant headroom for future improvements.

PRESS RELEASE - September 20, 2007
LITE-ON is ready for adaptation to SATA optical drives market

Fremont, CA. – September, 2007 -- Lite-On IT, one of the world’s leaders of optical storage solutions for PCs, announces their latest accomplishment of offering a complete line of SATA optical drives. Lite-On now incorporates Serial ATA interface from their entry level CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, Combo drives, to their mainstream DVD Writers, and top of the line Blu-ray writers.

With the introduction of broadband and the increased popularity of online entertainment, information, and applications, consumers are now demanding more advanced computer systems that offer more storage capacities and faster speeds to keep up with this information technology explosion. It is no longer enough to just have a basic computer system for word processing and simple excel sheets at home. Most consumers are now upgrading and adapting to new computer technologies. Some of these technologies include; new chipsets for superior performance, operating systems offering improved features and functions, and optical drives incorporating SATA interface for faster data transfer rates.

SATA is a serial link -- a single cable with a minimum of four wires that creates a point-to-point connection between devices. The SATA connection eliminates potential information and performance “bottlenecking” by offering at least 150 MB/s information transfer rate. SATA also uses thinner data cables allowing better airflow. As SATA interface becomes the new standard for optical drives, especially DVD Rewriters, more and more superior improvements will develop in the future.

For more information regarding the availability and model names of SATA optical drives, please contact your authorized Lite-On Distributor, Reseller or Retailer for additional information, or visit www.liteonit.com.

PRESS RELEASE - February 27, 2007

LITE-ON's World First 20X DVD Writer - LH-20A1H, receives high score at CDRLABS.COM, "Performance can be summed up in one word: FAST".

Fremont, CA. – February, 2007 – Lite-On IT, the world’s leading manufacturer of optical storage solutions, received another favorable review for its new LH-20A1H Writer, the World’s first 20X Writer in the market. CDRLabs.com is a leading technology Website known for its in-depth and exhaustive reviews for some of today’s most advanced computer and consumer electronics technologies. The popular technology website cited “the LH-20A1H’s performance can be summed up in one word: fast”.

“LH-20A1H reached some pretty impressive transfer speeds with other types of DVD media”, “the drive not only turned in some impressive times, its writing quality was quite good” said Ian Sadkovich, a senior reviewer at CDRLabs.com. “For what it offers, Lite-On’s new drive is surprisingly affordable”.

The LH-20A1H offers “SmartWrite” feature, a self-learning mechanism that automatically detects and decides the optimal “write strategy” for each DVD±R recordable media. SmartWrite also supports overspeed function. Tested at the lab, Ian stated, ”the drive will try to write to your DVD+/- media at a speed higher than what would normally be supported. To do this, overspeed relies heavily on SmartWrite.”

In addition to that, the LH-20A1H also includes the latest version of LightScribe labeling technology which allows users to silkscreen any type of artwork right onto the face of the LightScribe supported CD or DVD. Users simply burn content data as always onto any LightScribe-compatible media, flip the disc over, reinsert it into the drive and burn a beautiful label based on personal artwork, text or photographs.

Adding to the convenience and creative control of the LightScribe feature, the new LH-20A1H DVD burner features “Super AllWrite” technology that provides consumers the ability of reading, writing and re-writing any disc format on the market, including DVD-RAM and Double-Layer DVD±R format discs.

The drive writes and re-writes to DVD-RAM discs at an optimum speed of 12X. The unit’s Double Layer disc capability allows writing at a write speed of 8X. It also supports 8X DVD+RW and 6X DVD-RW Rewriting; 16X max DVD-Reading; and 48X CD-R Writing, 32X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max. CD Reading.
