NEW LITE-ON EZ-DUB OPTICAL DRIVE GETS EXTERNAL FACELIFT, MAINTAINS SIMPLE TWO-BUTTON OPERATION FOR COPYING AND BACKUP

“Smart Write” Technology Combines Optimum Write Speed with Highest Quality

Fremont, CA. November 27, 2007 – Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) USA, world leaders in optical storage solutions, announced today it has redesigned the exterior of its best-selling EZ-DUB optical drive to create a compact, more elegant appearance while maintaining all the features and functions that have made it a favorite among consumers and business professionals alike.

The new Lite-On DX-20A4PU EZ-DUB model distinguishes itself from other DVD writers with two new, and very distinct, “touch sensitive” buttons on the top of the unit marked “DUB” and “FILE.”  These buttons, which glow a neon blue when in operation, can be used as shortcuts to the most commonly used functions with most optical drives: DUB for duplicating a disc and FILE for backing up files from a computer.

“The new EZ-DUB is still the easiest way users can quickly duplicate discs or backup computer files but its elegant exterior also adds to the overall décor of an office or workstation,” says Christine Hsing, marketing manager at PLDS.  “Functionally, the EZ-DUB drive uses SmartWrite technology to optimize write speed and disc quality for added time-saving operation.”

By following a few simple steps, users can make a duplicate disc or copy computer files to CDs or DVDs with greater ease and in less time.  The new, high capacity / performance Re-Writable DVD Dual (+/-) format drive offers up to 8.5GB in Double-Layer capacity, adding ample and cost-effective storage to its fast and easy-to-use functions.  In addition, the EZ-DUB DX-20A4PU provides a 20X DVD write speed and has a power-switch in the rear of the drive so users can turn off the drive when not in use.  And with the use of the included stand, the drive can be mounted vertically to conserve space.

New Drive Offers Affordable Price Point and Ability to
Playback High-Definition Movies on Your PC

Fremont, CA. – November 13, 2007 – Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) USA, proudly introduces its first internal BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc Reader) drive to the market.  The new Lite-On DH-4O1S is the perfect all-in-one disc reading device for most popular media formats including Blu-ray Disc, DVD and CD discs.  The DH-4O1S Blu-ray BD-ROM drive will be available at retail outlets in late November with an affordable suggested list price of $199.99.

Single Layer DVD ±R or DVD-ROM can be read at 12X max, while Double Layer DVD±R and Single Layer DVD±RW can be read at 8X max. CD-R/RW/ROM has a maximum read speed of 32X.

LITE-ON Introduces the DX-20A3H DVD Writer
Award-winning Design, Combined with 20X Advanced Writing Speed and Latest
LightScribe Labeling Technology Makes New DVD Writer Ideal All Applications

Fremont, CA. – October 18, 2007 Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS), the joint venture between Philips and Lite-On that is responsible for the Lite-On branded Optical Disc Drive (ODD) business, expands its 20X DVD writer portfolio with an external drive that incorporates LightScribe, a disc labeling technology, and patented SmartWrite feature. This sleek and attractive external design is based entirely on Lite-On’s award-winning Blu-ray triple writer which recently won the prestigious RedDot Design Award in Europe.

The new DX-20A3H 20X external writer with USB connection is designed for true power users who not only care about speed but the quality and functions of the drive. The DX-20A3H delivers a maximum write speed of 20X on select DVD±R media, one of the fastest write speeds available on the market.

The new 20x optical drive features “SmartWrite”, is a self-learning mechanism that automatically detects and decides the optimal “write strategy” for each DVD±R recordable media. The phrase “write strategy” refers to the precise combination of optimum write power and recording speed to produce the highest quality recording in the fastest time allowable, based on the media used in the process.  The drive not only determines the best write speed strategy automatically, it also memorizes the writing strategy for every single type of media previously used for a faster, better quality DVD recording experience.

In addition, the DX-20A3H includes the latest version of LightScribe labeling technology which allows users to silkscreen any type of artwork right onto the surface of the LightScribe-supported CD or DVD.  Users simply burn content data as always onto any LightScribe-compatible media, flip the disc over, reinsert it into the drive and burn a beautiful label based on personal artwork, text or photographs.  The new LightScribe software completely eliminates the need for printers, permanent markers or adhesive labels and provides a clean, professional appearance that adds to the final touch to your perfect creation.

Adding to the convenience and creative control of the LightScribe feature, the new DX-20A3H DVD burner features “Super AllWrite” technology that gives consumers the ability of read, write and re-write any disc format on the market, including DVD-RAM and Double-Layer DVD±R format discs.  The ability to write to virtually any CD or DVD media gives consumers the added option of selecting media based on individual preference -- price, capacity, or brand – with the comfort of knowing that the media will work flawlessly with the unit.

The drive writes and re-writes to DVD-RAM discs at an optimum speed of 12X.  The unit’s Double Layer disc capability allows writing at a write speed of 8X.  It also supports 8X DVD+RW and 6X DVD-RW Rewriting; 16X max DVD-Reading; and 48X CD-R Writing, 32X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max. CD-Reading.

The Lite-On DX-20A3H external DVD Writer will be available end of October at authorized LiteOn retail outlets nationwide.
